Web and App Terms of Use
Effective 30 September 2026
1. About these terms
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern how you access and use Octopus Money’s website and mobile application. By using any of them, you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use our services.
Please read these Terms alongside:
- our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your personal data
- our Cookie Notice, which explains how we use cookies and similar tracking technologies on our website
- and your service terms, which govern the individual regulated services we provide you.
If there’s any conflict between these Terms and your service terms, your service agreement takes priority for those services.
2. Who we are
Our mobile app and web are provided by Octopus Money Financial Solutions Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 10339119), registered office: 7th Floor, 33 Holborn, London, England, EC1N 2HT (“we”, “us”, “our”). Octopus Money Financial Solutions Limited is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN 763630). Octopus Money is a trading name of Octopus Money Financial Solutions Limited.
3. What these Terms cover
These Terms apply however you reach us. That includes:
- our web app at app.octopusmoney.com;
- our mobile app
Different channels may offer different features, and features may not be available on every channel.
4. How these Terms fit with your other agreements
These Terms cover how you may access and use our digital platforms. They don’t create or change any regulated service we provide to you.
If there’s any conflict between these Terms and the service terms for a service you’ve taken, the service terms take priority for that service.
5. Who can use our services
To use our services you must:
- be at least 18 years old;
- be resident in the United Kingdom; and
- meet any additional eligibility requirements for the specific service you’re taking, which are set out in that service’s terms.
Some services are only available to existing Octopus Money customers, or to customers we’ve invited. Please don’t share your access with anyone else.
6. Your account and keeping it secure
You’re responsible for keeping your login details safe and for activity that happens under your account. Please:
- keep your password and any access codes confidential;
- use the security features your device offers, such as password and biometric lock; and
- tell us straight away at support@octopusmoney.com if you think someone else has accessed your account.
When you contact us by phone, we may ask you security questions to confirm who you are. We may not be able to act on an instruction if we can’t verify your identity.
7. Using our services properly
When using our services, please don’t:
- use them for anything unlawful or fraudulent;
- try to gain unauthorised access to our services, our systems, or other people’s data;
- copy, modify, reverse-engineer, or interfere with our services or their security;
- introduce anything malicious, or do anything that could damage or disrupt our services;
- use automated tools, bots, crawlers or scripts to access our services, extract content, or place instructions; or
- extract our content for the purpose of training or developing an artificial intelligence system.
We may suspend or withdraw your access if you break these Terms, or if we reasonably consider your use of our services to be unreasonable.
8. Our content and tools
We own, or are licensed to use, the content in our services, including our name, logo, text, designs and software. You may use it for your own personal, non-commercial use of our services, and not otherwise.
Some of our services include calculators, forecasts and planning tools. These produce estimates based on the information available and the assumptions we’ve used. They aren’t a promise of a future outcome, and unless we tell you otherwise in the relevant service terms, using them doesn’t mean you’ve received financial advice from us.
9. Availability
We aim to keep our services available, but we can’t promise they’ll always be available or uninterrupted. We may change, suspend or withdraw all or part of them. Where we reasonably can, we’ll give you notice.
Our digital services are designed to work on current versions of common browsers and operating systems. If you’re using an older version, some features may not work properly.
10. Services and information from other organisations
Some of our services rely on other organisations, for example to hold your investments, verify your identity, or connect to your bank account with your permission. Where a service is provided by another organisation, that organisation’s terms will also apply.
Investing through the Octopus Money platform is provided by Octopus Money Limited (company number 14069098), an appointed representative of Octopus Investments Limited, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. That service is governed by its own Platform Terms, which you’ll be asked to accept separately.
11. Recording and monitoring
We record and may monitor our communications with you, including telephone calls, video calls and secure messages. We do this to carry out your instructions accurately, to meet our regulatory obligations, to improve our service, and for security. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle these recordings and how long we keep them.
12. Letting someone else see your information
If we offer a way for you to let someone else see or use your account, you’re responsible for who you give access to. You can withdraw that access at any time by contacting us. We’re not responsible for what someone does with access you’ve given them.
13. Your privacy and data
How we collect and use your personal data is explained in our Privacy Policy.
14. Our responsibility to you
We’ll provide our services with reasonable care and skill. To the extent the law allows, we aren’t responsible for losses caused by issues we couldn’t reasonably have foreseen or prevented.
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability where it would be unlawful to do so. This includes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, for any breach of your statutory rights as a consumer that can’t be excluded, and for any liability we have to you under the regulatory system. Your legal rights as a consumer are not affected by these Terms.
15. If something goes wrong
If you’re unhappy with our services, please tell us at support@octopusmoney.com or call us on 0203 111 0589 so we can put it right. If we can’t resolve things, you may be able to refer your complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service at financial-ombudsman.org.uk.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. If we make a significant change, we’ll let you know before it takes effect. Continuing to use our services after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
17. Ending your access
You can stop using our services at any time. We may end or suspend your access, including if you break these Terms. Where we reasonably can, we’ll give you notice.
If your access ends, you may no longer be able to see or download documents held in your account, so please keep your own copies of anything you need. Ending your access to a channel doesn’t end your wider relationship with us or any service agreement — those end as set out in the relevant service terms.
18. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes will be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
