About our services
Octopus Money a trading name of Octopus Money Financial Solutions Limited is
authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (Registered FCA Number: 763630)
Our permitted business includes advising on and arranging mortgages. You can verify this on the FCA’s Register by visiting the FCA’s website https://register.fca.org.uk or by contacting them on 0800 111 6768.
We offer a whole of market range of mortgage and protection products. If you require, we will advise and make a recommendation after we have assessed your needs.
General Authority
It is important that you read and understand these conditions before you submit a mortgage and/or protection application to us, as your mortgage and / or protection submission will constitute acceptance of these conditions in their entirety.
You hereby authorise Octopus Money Financial Solutions Limited to make such enquiries as are necessary in connection with the service provided to you, and you authorise the persons in possession of this information to supply us with the information. You also authorise us to pass, at our discretion, information about you to third parties (such as mortgage lenders or protection providers) in order to provide you with a service. You accept that the lenders and/ or protection providers in question will process the data to assess an application and authorise them to take all necessary action to complete this assessment.
Fees
You will not pay a fee for our services, we may receive commission from product providers and lenders if you take out a mortgage and / or protection product(s).
Lender fees including valuation, administration and booking / arrangement fees are payable directly to the lender and are not the responsibility of Octopus Money Financial Solutions Limited.
For the work involved in monitoring the legal process for and on behalf of the client through to completion, the solicitor may pay us a fee for our services.
Money Laundering Regulations
We may be required to verify your identity in accordance with the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 and the Money Laundering Regulations and will request the necessary evidence from you to prove your identity. Failure to provide satisfactory evidence could result in themortgage not proceeding. Wherever possible we will complete electronic Identity verification, these checks may include checking your credit file as a ‘soft search’ and do not impact your credit score.
Duty of Disclosure & Respecting Your Privacy
It is your responsibility to provide complete and accurate information when you take out a mortgage, and for you to notify us promptly of any changes that may occur before the mortgage is completed.
If you apply for a mortgage, we will use your personal data in accordance with the consents that you give us. We are committed to keeping your personal information safe and confidential.
Some mortgage products are not regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. If it is anticipated that this will apply to any mortgage that we discuss. However, if you require advice or information on regulated mortgage contracts, you will be provided with an initial disclosure document entitled ‘Key facts about our services’ prior to this service commencing.
Termination
This Agreement may be terminated at any time, by either party. Notice of termination must be given in writing and will take effect immediately upon receipt. Termination will be without prejudice to the completion of transactions already commenced on your behalf or any rights or obligations arising.
Where you have completed this Agreement away from our business premises you will have the right to cancel this Agreement within 14 days without giving any reason. The cancellation period expires 14 days from the day our agreement is signed/e-signed by you. To exercise this right to cancel, you must inform us in writing of your decision to cancel this Agreement by a clear statement. By signing this Agreement you have instructed us to commence our services.
Use of Data
Personal information will be kept for compliance and monitoring purposes. Information may be passed to other financial firms in the course of providing services. We may provide information to our regulators and their successor. We also provide information to our auditors, professional advisors and our parent company. Taxation
You should seek independent advice from a tax advisor or accountant to ensure you understand the tax implications of taking out the mortgage for which you have applied.
Complaints Procedure
Whilst we will always do everything we can to provide you with the best possible service, sometimes we won’t get things quite right the first time. If you need to raise a complaint please contact us as soon as possible. You can do this by:

We have a complaints procedure and we can provide further details on request. If you have raised a complaint and you are not happy with our response, the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) may be able to help. The FOS settles disputes between financial services businesses and their clients. Full details are available at www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk.
The Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) is the UK’s statutory compensation fund for customers of authorised financial services firms who are unable to pay claims against them, usually because they have gone out of business.
You may be able to claim compensation from the FSCS if we can’t meet our obligations. The amount of compensation available will depend on the type of business and the circumstances of the claim. Further information is available from the FSCS at www.fscs.org.uk.
Octopus Money Financial Solutions Limited reserves the right not to accept an application submitted by you, and to withdraw any recommendation to any lender, without having to give an explanation for doing so.
