At Octopus Money, we’re excited to reward our customers for spreading the word about our services. Our Refer a Friend scheme (“Scheme”) is designed to thank both our customers and the friends and family they refer who genuinely want to benefit from financial coaching or advice. To keep things fair for everyone, these Terms and Conditions explain how the Scheme works and how rewards are earned.

By participating in the Scheme, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.

1. Purpose of the Scheme

The Refer a Friend Scheme is intended for personal, non-commercial use only. It is designed to encourage genuine referrals of friends, family members, or acquaintances who may benefit from Octopus Money’s services. Referrals made for commercial gain, lead-generation purposes, or in bulk are not permitted.

2. Definitions

  • “Referrer” means an individual who refers another person to Octopus Money through the Scheme.
  • “Referred Friend” means the individual who is referred to Octopus Money by a Referrer.
  • “Qualifying Service” means Octopus Money’s Financial Planning or Wealth Planning service.
  • “Reward” means a £100 voucher issued to the Referrer and a separate £100 voucher issued to the Referred Friend, each redeemable at a choice of over 2,000 retailers.

3. Eligibility

Referrer eligibility:

  • The Referrer must be a current or former Octopus Money customer at the time the referral is made.
  • Employees, contractors, or agents of Octopus Money are not eligible to participate unless expressly stated otherwise.

Referred Friend eligibility:

  • The Referred Friend must be a new customer with no prior history of paid services with Octopus Money.
  • The Referred Friend must be aged 18 or over and resident in the UK.

4. Qualifying Criteria

A referral will qualify for a Reward only if all of the following conditions are met:

  • The Referred Friend books and attends a free initial session with Octopus Money.
  • Following the free session, the Referred Friend signs up to a Qualifying Regulated Advice Service (Financial Planning or Wealth Planning).
  • The standard cost of the Qualifying Service is £299.
  • The £299 fee must be paid in full, either:
    • directly by the Referred Friend, or
    • by their employer as part of an employee benefit, or
    • via salary sacrifice or another pre-tax payroll arrangement.

Where the cost of the Qualifying Service is discounted or fully covered by an employer benefit, the referral will still qualify, provided all other criteria are met.

5. Reward Details

Subject to meeting all eligibility and qualifying criteria, both the Referrer and the Referred Friend will each receive a £100 voucher.

Each £100 voucher is redeemable at a choice of over 2,000 participating retailers. Vouchers are issued individually and are not shared between participants.

Vouchers are non-transferable, non-exchangeable, and cannot be redeemed for cash. Retailer availability is subject to change and is managed by our third-party voucher provider. Octopus Money is not responsible for the availability, quality, or terms of use of any retailer vouchers.The £100 value refers to the face value of the voucher and not to any guaranteed saving or discount on goods or services.

6. Issuance of Rewards

  • Separate vouchers will be issued to the Referrer and the Referred Friend once all qualifying criteria have been met.
  • Rewards are typically issued within a reasonable period following confirmation of eligibility, but timing is not guaranteed.
  • Octopus Money reserves the right to withhold or delay Rewards while eligibility is being verified.

7. Fair Use and Abuse Prevention

Octopus Money reserves the right to withhold, cancel, or recover Rewards where we reasonably believe that:

  • Referrals have been made fraudulently or dishonestly;
  • The Scheme has been abused or manipulated;
  • Referrals have been generated through advertising, paid promotion, or spam;
  • Multiple accounts or identities have been used to exploit the Scheme; or
  • These Terms and Conditions have otherwise been breached.

    Our decision in these matters will be final.
